Climate Justice Committee

In line with the Berlin Declaration on Climate Justice (2018), the Climate Justice Committee will deliver liberals’ answers to climate change. Based on our core liberal principles – individual freedom, freedom of choice and rule of law, we aim to set a liberal agenda on climate justice. The core objectives of the committee are:

        1. The Right to the Environment
        2. Just Energy Transition
        3. Climate Justice and Sustainable Economy

Liberal International’s Baku to Belém report assesses the outcomes of COP29 and the road ahead for global climate finance. While the summit fell short of expectations for climate-vulnerable nations, the new “Baku to Belém Roadmap to 1.3 T” offers a framework to mobilise $1.3 trillion annually by 2035. Building on the COP28 Global Climate Finance Framework, the report outlines practical, market-oriented actions — from carbon levies and debt-for-climate swaps to private investment reforms — to help countries unlock the scale of finance needed for resilience, adaptation, and the global net-zero transition.
