Political action in the digital age has permitted us to reach larger audiences in seconds. It has also given rise to harmful disinformation campaigns and the weaponization of personal communications in misleading ways.

Reclaim the Narrative: Media preparedness and strategic communications, a 90-minute fringe training session in partnership with D66 under the auspices of the International Federation of Liberal Youth General Assembly, brought together young political liberals for a training on strategic communications, media preparedness, and personal branding to neutralize disinformation and embed long-term resilience against disinformation campaigns and attacks.

“Politics is about values and storytelling.” 

Led by D66 trainer Danielle Brouwer, participants discussed the prevalence of disinformation and its impact on democracy, the gendered dimension of disinformation campaigns, strategies to communicate with resilience against backlash and disinformation, public speaking and speaking to the media, and how to recognise and defeat disinformation when you see it.
