Empow(H)er: Defending Women Leaders

For its second annual Women in Political Parties training, LI ran Empow(H)er: Defending women leaders in Marrakech, Morocco from Dec. 2-5.

This two-day-training in partnership with Dutch political party D66 brought together aspiring women politicians from the MENA region for training workshops and discussions on violence against women in politics.

The weekend featured workshops on risk and resource mapping, digital self-defense, leading cultural change and talking to men about feminism and violence, and feminist policymaking; a panel with four women in politics and activism; and a site visit to the party headquarters of Moroccan political party Mouvement Populaire to meet with a female Member of Parliament and female candidates from her party.

The weekend was moderated by Khadija el Morabit. The HRC also extends its special thanks to trainers Fedwa Misk, Loes ten Dolle, Katie Beelaerts, Mohammed Rherass, Aziza Boujrida, and Mouvement Populaire.
