#NotTheCost: Stopping Violence Against Women in Politics

Women are advancing toward equality and claiming their right to participate in politics: as civil society activists, political party leaders, local councillors and mayors, parliamentarians, ministers and presidents. We must ensure that women can be politically active without experiencing any form of discrimination, harassment or assault. Violence is NOT the cost of politics.

NDI launched the #NotTheCost initiative on March 17, 2016, in New York City. U.S. Secretary of State and NDI Chairman Madeleine K. Albright, Madame Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, women’s rights activist and wife of the Prime Minister of Canada, Dr Juli Minoves, 13th LI President, delivered keynote remarks.
