Former LI VP Hsiao to become Taiwan’s next ambassador to United States

Former LI Vice President and DPP (LI full member) legislator, Bi-khim Hsiao, is set to become the next Ambassador of Taiwan to the United States of America, developing relations with one of her countries most important strategic allies.

In a letter on behalf of the bureau of Liberal International, on which Hon. Hsiao was elected in 2005, LI President Hakima el Haité expressed her congratulations and assured the incoming ambassador of LI’s continued support committed and dependable partner to Taiwan.

President Tsai ing-wen appointed Hon. Hsiao on Tuesday evening of 16 June and she will serve as Taiwan’s first female representative to US.

LI Concludes NextGen Liberals Mentorship Programme in Istanbul with D66 Internationaal, IFLRY and INLW

The NextGen Liberals Mentorship Programme concluded in Istanbul on 2–4 October 2026, bringing together 15 young liberal women leaders from Eastern Europe and Western Balkans for an intensive programme of workshops, mentoring and practical policy development. Organised by Liberal International in cooperation with D66 Internationaal, IFLRY and INLW, the programme combined interactive learning with personalised guidance, giving participants the opportunity to strengthen both their political skills and leadership.

Liberal International mourns the passing of Sidya Touré, former Prime Minister of Guinea and leader of the Union of Republican Forces (UFR), LI's member party. A distinguished statesman, accomplished technocrat and committed liberal, Sidya Touré dedicated his life to public service, democratic values and strengthening ties between Guinea, Africa and Europe. His political career spanned Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea, where he served in senior government positions, including as Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Alassane Ouattara under President Félix Houphouët-Boigny, before becoming Prime Minister of Guinea.

LI bureau welcomes New York agreement on Greenland

The bureau of Liberal International welcomes the agreement published in New York on Greenland today between the Kingdom of Denmark, Greenland and the US. The new agreement is a modernation of the security agreement between Denmark and the US from 1951. The opening statement confirms the Sovereignty and integrity of The Kingdom of Denmark and Greenland.
