In the 20th instalment of the human rights bulletin, the LI HRC launched the Digitalisation and Human Rights Campaign with Radikale Venstre, the second annual WIPP Index had an uptake of 80% and a new project in the works with linking Climate Justice and Human Rights. Events in Afghanistan, Nicaragua and other countries where the shrinking democratic space can been seen have been a top priority of the LI HRC.
Chair of LI Human Rights Committee Astrid Thors said:
We once more also see how authoritarian leaders are using innocent people to put pressure on countries that are firm in their action against them…[we are reminded of] the sad anniversary of the protests in Belarus. Additionally, in Latin America, where the democracy heroes are increasingly endangered and imprisoned. The entire LI leadership got extremely concerned for our VP Kitty Monterrey when the unlawful stripping of her citizenship and the dissolution of her party occured.
