Liberal International’s strong standing partners, the Paddy Ashdown Forum and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, have joined forces to tackle the dilemma of complexity attached to so many problems related to climate change, in their newly published report ‘Solving the Climate Puzzle: How Systems Thinking Supports Environmental Decision-Making’ written by a highly diverse panel of experienced and knowledgeable [female] contributors. The report is aiming to give a different perspective on existing problems related to the systemic interconnectedness and fragility of our systems that unravelled as climate change became more and more prominent.

We welcome this report in Liberal International, in light of deciding on the next priorities of our Climate Justice, Human Rights and Fair Trade Committees, as the themes tackled in this report sit well on the intersection between the work of our committees. We must adopt a systemic, cross-sectoral approach when dealing with the consequences of climate change, and this report shows well how that can be done: re-thinking how we think about climate change, how we approach it and how we aim to solve some of today’s challenges.
