Each year, Liberal International presents the Prize for Freedom to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement and promotion of human rights and political freedoms.
On behalf of the President of Liberal International, Dr. Hakima El Haité, and LI Human Rights Committee Chairperson, Astrid Thors – the call for the LI Prize for Freedom 2022 nomination is now open, marking the 40th year that the Prize has been awarded. In the button below, instructions for nominating a candidate along with the nomination deadline of March 31, 2023 can be found.

Liberal International proudly commemorates the past laureates of the Prize, among which are Waris Dirie, Lord John Alderdice, Raif Badawi, Ilham Tohti, Senator Leila de Lima, María Corina Machado, Royal Highness Prince Zeid Ra’ad al- Hussein, and Dr. Sima Samar.

Any Liberal International full member organisation is eligible to nominate a candidate for the Prize for Freedom, but may not nominate someone from their own ranks.
