The President of Liberal International, Dr. Juli Minoves was in Vancouver, Canada where he participated at the 70th anniversary meeting of the Western Political Science Association (WPSA) with a paper presentation. He met with Canadian Liberal MP Hedy Fry with whom he reviewed the advancements of liberalism in Canada since the last election, the LI manifesto process and the joint work that LI and the Liberal Party of Canada can do to foster Human Rights in the world.
In the Canadian Parliament, Hedy Fry represents the liberal values of the progressive and forward looking city of Vancouver. She also has an important role in the parliamentary assembly of the OSCE. She commended LI's work on human rights across the globe and shared her vision for the future in this sphere of work. It was a very positive feedback from a leading member of our worldwide liberal family
said Dr. Minoves after the meeting.
Hedy Fry was Canadian Minister of State responsible for Multiculturalism and Status of Women and since her election to parliament in 1993 when she defeated the incumbent Prime Minister Kim Campbell at the time, she has been an advocate for LGBT rights and diversity. Fry has spoken of Canada’s diversity as its greatest competitive advantage – “our weapon of mass inclusion”. She is the President of the Liberal Group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
