Liberal International Vice-President Henrik Bach Mortensen met with the leadership of Citizens’ Alliance (CA) in The Gambia this month, following the party’s admission as an observer member at LI’s 209th Executive Committee meeting in The Hague last month. CA’s entry into the global liberal network expands LI’s engagement in West Africa and strengthens cooperation with emerging liberal forces in the region.
During his visit, our VP held constructive discussions with senior representatives of Citizens’ Alliance, including the Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting, Ismaila Ceesay, and Party President Raffie Diab. The meeting focused on areas central to LI’s mission and liberal political development, including human rights, free trade, global security, modern party organisation, and the empowerment of broader membership structures.
Citizens’ Alliance expressed strong interest in participating actively within Liberal International, learning from sister parties, and contributing to shared liberal objectives across the LI network.
CA’s recent admission as an observer member reflects the party’s commitment to democratic governance, transparency, and civic freedoms in The Gambia.
Liberal International looks forward to deeper cooperation with Citizens’ Alliance as the party advances liberal values in The Gambia and contributes to LI’s global mission to defend democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
