President of Liberal International, Dr Hakima el Haité has extended her warm congratulations to H.E Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party for National Development (UPND) for their resounding victory in the 2021 Zambian Presidential Elections.
“Your inauguration as the 7th President of the Republic of Zambia, lights a beacon of hope on the continent, demonstrating that Africans can and will use their vote to hold leaders accountable,” President El Haité wrote in a letter of congratulations addressed to the newly elected President.
President Hichilema’s campaign priorities resonated with the work undertaken by the LI Human Rights Committee, and LI President El Haité is confident that together with other liberal presidents across Africa, President Hichilema will form a formidable force for liberal values.
