- reaffirms the important role of the United Nations for peace and security since 60 years. The UN speaks with legitimacy for all humanity,
- welcomes the emphasis expressed by the UN Summit in September on the responsibility of the international community to intervene when a state fails to protect its citizens from genocide and ethnic cleansing, on condemning terrorism and on making the appointment of a peace-biulding commission possible,
- regrets the failure of the UN Summit in September to come to decisions on restructuring of the UN system, such as the reform of the Security Council, the structure of the new Commission on Human Rights, and the global proliferation of nuclear arms,
- calls on UN Member States to accord human rights the central place they deserve in the work of the UN and to promote strict membership criteria when forming the new Council of Human Rights not repeating the unacceptable presence of some of the worlds worst violators of human rights among its members as in the current Commission on Human rights.
- calls on UN Member States to promote additional initiatives to reform the UN system, in accordance with the suggestions made in the report “In Larger Freedom” by the Secretary General.
