Liberal International notes with concern the verdict and sentence passed on former Ukrainian Prime Minister and Presidential Candidate, Yulia Tymoshenko.
Liberal International congratulates the European Union’s foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton on her strong stance against the outcome of a trial which was clearly politically motivated, and joins her in insisting that the appeal process be transparent and fair.
Liberal International calls on the European Union to halt all negotiations on the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement until Ukraine is able to demonstrate its respect for the rule of law, and urges all member parties to make representations to their Governments to freeze co-operation with the current Government of Ukraine.
