Interlaken 1998

The 161st Meeting of the Executive Committee of Liberal International will be in Interlaken, Switzerland. The meeting is hosted by FDP.Die Liberalen (LI full member) and will take place at the Victoria Jungfrau Hotel. The outline of the meeting is as follows:

On 7th November the new Hall of Freedom at the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland will be opened. The Hall commemorates not only the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights but moreover the 150th anniversary of the “Liberal Revolutions” that swept many countries in 1848 and that led, among others, to the Swiss constitution.

The Hall of Freedom will be open to the public and will feature a commemoration plate with 100 names, dedicated to persons who made a major contribution to establishing freedom and liberal democracy in the past 150 years. The 100 names were chosen by Liberal International, nominated by parties and institutes from across the political spectrum, and by citizens through the Internet. We have published the list on our Internet site.
