Proposed by Liberal International British Group, UK
The LI Executive welcomes the determination, in recent WTO talks, of the EU and Commissioner Pascal Lamy to establish systematic access to patented drugs by developing countries at substantially reduced cost, for combating diseases such as Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
In particular, the LI endorses the WHO as arbiter for determining which drugs should be made available.
Under no circumstances should the EU line in this be weakened as part of a trade-off to protect the CAP.
