Title: Resolution for the Eradication of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and the Enforcement of Anti-FGM Laws

Noting that:
- More than 230 million girls and women worldwide have been subjected to Female Genital Mutilation. Each year it is estimated that an additional three million girls are at risk of being subjected to the practice globally.
- FGM is a harmful practice, which often causes complications such as urinary problems, excessive bleeding, and infections and therefore constitutes several serious threats to the health of women and girls.
Considering that:
- In December 2012, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously passed a resolution banning the practice of Female Genital Mutilation.
Calling for:
- The condemnation of the practice of Female Genital Mutilation which still continues in many parts of the developing world.
- Special attention to be placed on protecting and supporting women and girls who have been subjected to Female Genital Mutilations, and those at risk, including refugee women and women migrants.
- Governments throughout the developing world to take all necessary measures, including enforcing legislation, awareness-raising and allocating sufficient resources to protect women and girls from this form of violence.
