Liberal International condemns the sudden expulsion from the country of the democratic activists, Mr. Hamlet Labastida and Ms. Katherine Bisquet by the Cuban communist authorities on 25 September. This is the latest episode in the scale of violence, repression and contempt for human rights unleashed in the country after the unprecedented social protests of 11 July 2021.

Liberal International demands the immediate release of all those detained for freely expressing the political will of so many Cubans and that the Cuban communist regime report on the wellbeing of the more than 500 persons held by the government after the 11 July events, who have not been in receipt of proper judicial attention.

Liberal International further urges support for the popular peaceful demonstrations planned in Cuba on 20 November to ensure that Cubans can exercise their rights in freely.
