Noting that: 

An astonishing plight that the world is largely silent on the current situation for Uyghur women in land occupied by China. Women in the Xinjiang region are forbidden from practicing their religion, from speaking their mother tongue, discouraged from wearing clothing that marks them as Muslim, and separating them from their own children. They are facing rape, forced sterilization, and other types of brutal abuse by police enforced by CCP. 

Considering that: 

According to the ruling Communist Party’s official newspaper, as of the end of September 2018,  

1.1 million local government workers have been deployed to Uyghur’s houses. For most women, whose husbands are in the concentration camps or Chinese prisons, this creates environments where the women are vulnerable to sexual abuse. 

  In addition, Uyghur women are also forced into marriages with Han Chinese men, a part of China’s strategy to force assimilation and ethnic cleansing of the Uyghurs.  

Therefore, be it resolved: 

that the International Network for Liberal Women (INLW) seeks support from members of Liberal International (LI) to:  

Support Uyghur women’s basic rights against CCP’s brutal repression such as forced sterilization, separating them from their children, fear of facing rape as CCP members are staying in their home and they are submitted to many other brutal suppressions.  

Condemn UNESCO naming Peng Liyuan, the spouse of President Xi Jinping of China, a Special   Envoy for the Advancement of Girls’ and Women’s Education. Requesting UNESCO to remove the title from Peng.
