As human rights programme manager, Mariam will support implementing the programmatic work of Liberal International’s human rights committee. Mariam will, among other things, work on the committee’s three focus areas: women in politics, digitalisation, and defending the democratic space. In addition, she will advance the secretariat’s activities and promote Liberal International’s presence as a key actor in the international human rights community.
Before joining LI, Mariam worked for the Europe-Georgia Institute (EGI) as a Programme Manager. She worked on research regarding women’s political representation in the Georgian political experience, focusing on historical perspective and current participation in Georgian politics. Mariam has also hosted a podcast “Women in Politics” under the initiative of the EGI and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom South Caucasus, inviting Georgian female leaders to discuss existing barriers for women in the political sphere based on their personal experiences.
Mariam has recently completed her Master’s degree in European Political and Governance studies at the College of Europe in Bruges. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Free University of Tbilisi.
