Ms. Lee Yen-jong is the current Director of the Department of Gender Equality in the
Democraptic Progressive Party (DPP) of Taiwan. She is an attorney-at-law in Taiwan and
France and a licensed social worker. Through her Director position, she has been instrumental
in setting up institutions and frameworks to ensure a safer environment for party members
and staff. Her leadership was critical in implementing internal policies, establishing reporting
mechanisms, and raising awareness of gender-based misconduct, making the DPP a model
for addressing such issues.

Ms. Lee also brings a wealth of experience in gender equality, human rights, and legal
reform, and has consistently demonstrated strong leadership in advocating for women’s rights
and eliminating discrimination. Lee’s extensive legal background includes serving on key
committees within the Taiwan Bar Association, such as the Committee for the Prevention of
Sexual Harassment and the Committee of International Affairs. These roles showcase her
deep commitment to strengthening legal frameworks that protect human rights. Furthermore,
her pro bono legal counsel work for organizations including the Taiwan LGBT Hotline
Association and the Judicial Reform Foundation highlights her dedication to supporting
vulnerable and marginalized communities, advocating for inclusivity, and upholding fairness
within society.

Her fluency in Mandarin, French, and English, positions her to effectively engage with global
human rights discourse. This broad experience, coupled with her passion for advancing
human rights, positions Ms. Lee as a strong candidate for the Liberal International Human
Rights Committee. Ms. Lee holds a MSc in Sociology and Gender Studies from Ecole Des
Hautes Etudes En Sciences Sociales, and LL.M. in Human Rights from Universite Paris
Ouest Nanterre La Defense.
