Professor Karl-Heinz Paqué is the chairman of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF). As well as being a member of the Freie Demokratische Partei (FDP) federal executive committee, he was elected as one of the vice-presidents of Liberal International at the 70th-anniversary congress in Andorra in 2017. Prof. Paqué was elected Deputy President of Liberal International in 2018 at the 62nd Congress in Dakar and ran for his second term as Deputy President and was elected at the 75th Anniversary Congress in Sofia Bulgaria, in 2022.

In addition to serving as minister of finance to the state of Saxony-Anhalt between 2002-06, Professor Paqué is today the Chair of International Economics at the Otto-von-Guericke-University of Magdeburg and Dean of the faculty of economics and management. He holds Ph. D. from the University of Kiel where he worked as a Professor, research director, and department head at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy from 1991-1996. Professor Paqué is the recipient of an honorary doctorate from the University of Miskolc, Hungary and is chief editor of the Journal Perspektiven der Wirtschaftspolitik of the German Economic Association.
