Baroness Sal Brinton is the Vice President of the ALDE Party, since 2019. She is active internationally and across Europe in promoting liberal values and supporting liberal parties. Recently she chaired the ALDE Party’s review of its founding document to produce the Charter of Values, adopted in 2024. Baroness Brinton is a member of the House of Lords where she is a vocal advocate for human and disability rights, Europe, education, and healthcare. She was elected as a chairperson of Liberal International’s human rights committee in 2024 at LI’s 64th Congress in Santiago, Chile.Â
Baroness Brinton has been a member of the Liberals and the Liberal Democrats for fifty years, joining to help fight
the anti-apartheid movement. For many years, she has worked both publicly and privately to support
those held unjustly by governments.
Baroness Brinton has held various leadership roles within the UK Liberal Democrats, including election as the party’s President from 2015 to 2019.
