Noting: 

• Intensifying and toughening repression and surveillance over the dissenting, all those standing for peace in Russia, and refusing to enrol in Russia’s “military operation” in Ukraine, 
• Imprisonment and large fines for peace advocates, closure of human rights organisations and media, enlisting NGOs and dissenting media as “foreign agents” and “undesirable organisations” which makes their functioning impossible,  
• An unprecedented cruel sentence of 25 years in a strict penal colony for opposition politician and journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza, winner of the Vaclav Havel Human Rights Prize and LI Prize for Freedom winner   
• Non-provision of due medical aid to Kara-Murza, a survivor of two Novichok poisonings currently suffering from their consequences, which turns imprisonment into a death sentence for him 

States:  

• Liberal International considers persecution of Kara-Murza political, demands the sentence be overturned and Kara-Murza released,  
• Qualified medical care must be provided to Kara-Murza immediately and unconditionally, medical aid outside the RF inclusive. 

Calls on: 

• The international community, the UN, the EU, international organisations and people of free will to demand from the Russian authorities to release Vladimir Kara-Murza and other Russian political prisoners, and stop repression against the dissent in Russia.
