This Congress

Conscious of the appeal by United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan when he said –

“Let us choose to unite the powers of markets with the authority of universal ideals, let us choose to reconcile the creative forces of private entrepreneurship with the needs of the disadvantaged and the requirements of the future generation”

Aware that a growing number of large corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises are recognizing the public expectation that they should play an active role in the achievement of peace, stability and justice in the world and are adopting codes of conduct that incorporate human rights standards,

Welcomes the Report of the Human Rights Committee, Business and Human Rights – an Evolving Agenda, Commends it to the study of the Member Parties and Cooperating Organizations of Liberal International, and

Commits itself to active support for the Global Compact and to the development of a more just and liberal international order.

Calls on liberal members party to pursue a White Paper on Corporate Social Responsibility in their respective national administrations.
