As part of a series of discussions on international justice reform and the rule of law, the LI Human Rights Committee will meet in the Hague, the Netherlands to discuss the future of the international liberal order. The event is being co-hosted by LI member parties in the Netherlands, People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and Democrats 66, with the generous support of ALDE Party and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.
Under the theme Global Justice and the Rule of Law: The Future of the International Liberal Order, the meeting will provide an unique opportunity for the exchange on the role of European and international justice instruments in encouraging global judicial reform.
A core part of the programme includes a bilateral exchange with the President of the International Criminal Court, which will see delegates discuss regional responses to ICC ruling, existing cooperation between the Court and relevant state and non-state actors and the future of the global justice system. Engagement of the Court with regional and international human rights mechanisms will also be highlighted.
